2026 Month of Consecration Overview
Often, just before God does something amazing in the lives of His people, He calls them to a special place of consecration.
OT: The exodus
OT: Crossing the Jordan
NT: Lord's Supper
NT: Pentecost
This pause created contrast between their effort and the power of God. In other words, consecration was a reminder that we don't need to try harder, we need to surrender more.
The original Hebrew word for consecration - קָדַשׁ (Kaw-dash) - means to set apart, to make holy. It invokes the idea of pausing, changing rhythm, even cleaning house in preparation to witness Divinity at work.
For Israel, that meant certain rituals and rites. But for new covenant believers, consecration is not a service or ritual, it's a lifestyle. It is a daily rededication to the King and His Kingdom. 1 Thessalonians 4:3 says, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification [consecration]...”
Consecration is what one author calls "the work of a lifetime." But the fact that consecration is a process doesn't mean that it is a passive process. It's actually the greatest partnership ever known to man. It's the work of allowing God to eliminate distraction, and purge sin so we can fully appreciate His goodness on display.
The Month of Consecration (MOC) is our way of building an intentional reset into the rhythm of the Church. As a Church, we recognize our need to seek the Lord, and to reconsecrate ourselves to the work to which we have been called.
It's a time to reset, refresh, and recalibrate our personal connection with God, which in turn rejuvenates our corporate ministry as a church. In practice, MOC is a barrier against burnout and a calling to a deeper and more authentic relationship with Jesus. It’s a spiritual exhale for the Church.
Over the course of the month, we intentionally lay down the busyness of ministry and embrace physical, and spiritual rest in Jesus. To do this, we will engage in a low-pressure, interactive worship experience that calls us to authentic relationships with God, and each other.
Because we prioritize the presence of God over performance, we will NOT be live streaming Sabbath Services during January (Month of Consecration). Rather, we will provide alternative discipleship content to bless and edify our digital disciples. Our break from livestreaming indicates our desire to focus on being present with Jesus, and for the month of January, we want to focus on being with Jesus over merely doing for Jesus.
Each week, we will engage in a Church-wide Discipleship Challenge or activity that will build community, embrace true rest, and develop powerful spiritual practices that we can carry into the new year. These activities will be centered on key focus areas addressed in our brand new Teaching Theme: "Relationship ReImagined." This new series will center on rediscovering the power of God’s love, which revolutionizes our relationships, and transforms us from the inside out.
Welcome to our Month of Consecration.
